can anyone explain to me the differences between National Universities, Liberal Art Colleges, Universities- Master's and Comprehensive Colleges- Bachelor's?????? I got these from the US News book, and it has 4 sections. but I don't seem to understand the differences between them.

I'm a little gray on these as well but:
National Universities - draw from across the country, offer Masters plus
Liberal Art Colleges - Bachelors only with broad base curriculum
Universities- Master's - more local/regional, no (or few) PhDs
Comprehensive Colleges- Bachelor's - Broader reach of degrees than LACs ?

Nat'l Unis offer undergrad and grad work
Liberal Arts colleges are undergrad only...
not sure about the other two

bump
bump
bump

I'm not sure what they mean by national universities. I would say that refers to universities that have a national scope, with a strong research element that gives them national visibility.

A liberal arts college is an institution that is all about providing a great undergraduate education, with a strong grounding in the liberal arts (ie social sciences, humanities, etc.)

A bachelor's is the traditional college degree in the US, you take it after high school and it generally lasts four years.

A master's is two years after the degree, you can either do it as a standalone degree or as the run-up to a PhD, which is a research degree and allows you to become a professor.
