How can Rochester have a darn good BME program, and a World Class Optical Engineering program and still be ranked #79 in undergraduate engineering in US News?

In the US News grad rankings, the overall engineering rankings have Rochester in the 30's with its BME program ranked in the 30's. I think the problem is that they lump the optical engineering program with physics and ranks in the top 10 in the optics subcategory.

Some Majors and Minors that are different from the norm:

In addition, you can minor in Bio-Environmental Engineering: http://www.seas.rochester.edu/SEAS/options/bioenvironmental.html

Also, you can minor in Material Science Engineering: http://www.seas.rochester.edu:8080/SEAS/options/msc.html

In addition, you can major in Geomechanics. Its a degree within the Mechanical Engineering Department and Earth Science Department (Look at the engineering courses that need to be taken): http://www.earth.rochester.edu/undergrad_program.html
