Explain Waitlist

Can someone explain the waitlisting process to me please?

If I put my deposit in to BC and accept to be on the NYU waitlist can BC decline my acceptance. And if I accept to be put on the waitlist to NYU do I have to absolutely go to NYU because obviously I dont know what financial aid I would get...

Probably asking a stupid question but I just want to make sure...

I’m not sure if the rule changes but I know that (for Emory at least) you have to put in the deposit and all of that and you’re on the waitlist with an updated transcript basically. It’s basically like applying all over again so if you get accepted one place you can still get accepted somewhere else.

No, BC will not decline your acceptance. You’re allowed to deposit at one school and accept a spot on a waitlist.

No, you don’t absolutely have to go to NYU if you get off the waitlist.

But keep in mind…

“Most schools don’t give financial aid to wait-listed students.” (LasMa posted this article in the Parents Forum)
