I am trying to transfer into UVa for fall 2019 as a second year.
I go to VT and have a 3.4 ish GPA
This happened because I missed the first exam in calc since it was an online class that had the 12:00 noon but I thought it meant midnight.
It was too late to drop so I basically tried my best in the class and was able to muster a C.
I had a 4.8 senior year and would’ve had a 3.85 without calc bringing it down.
I really hope that this doesn’t immediately disqualify me. Is there a way to let them know what happened so they can possibly not judge so harshly?
I am surprised your Calculus professor would not let you take an alternate test or something. I don’t think the excuse would really help your case with UVA. Maybe it would be best to wait for your grades this semester and apply to transfer in the spring is that is an option at UVA. Then you will have time to bring your grades back up.
I go to Virginia Tech Currently. For those who aren’t engineering majors, calculus is taught entirely online without any lectures from any professors at all. In fact, I’ve never even seen a professor. It’s so systematic here that there is no leniency ever. I would wait until the spring but the acceptance is 4x lower if I remember correctly. If I wait until next fall, my current major here will be on an entirely incompatible path that what I want to transfer to. I will just YOLO it I guess, it’s now or never.
