I was informed by one of the colleges that I got denied from which one reason was because my freshman and sophomore grades weren't up to par. I was wondering do you think it would be a good idea to send a letter to my top choices describing why I got not so great grades.

In several classes I had 2-4 teachers ( during one year) and alot of new ones of whom were all terrible teachers, a few even got fired too. School is messed up .

Also I have several family issues going on at the same time with my brother.

After all was resolved I had an upward trend in my grades junior and so far senior year.

Thank you

Most people have reasons. I'm not going to tell you whether or not you should send a letter, but most everyone has reasons like "my teachers stunk" or "I had problems at home."

I don't mean to be so negative, but can't everyone say that kind of stuff?

Well yes, collegehellp.

EVERYONE can write something about that.

But HOW YOU WRITE it is how it's what's going to make a difference. You can't just blame teachers/life.

Ummm, I'm sorry, I'm not expeirenced with those issues so I can't provide any further help.

What I can tell u is that you can write something about why your grades were bad but u need to write it in a fashion that appeals to the Adcom

you have a good point haikumarukuchan...... also i understand people can say these but its true what am I not supposed to say it.... and Im sort of blaming it on my teacher I mean they all got fired and they hire more idiots....I guess i just need to word it correctly

No, saying you had terrible teachers won't help you.

isn't it a bit too late? you had your chance to explain the discrepancies in the 'additional info' section. why complain now ?
i don't really think explaining the situation to the college now would help~
gluck~

There are certain circumstances that could be enough justification for poor frosh ,soph grades- "bad teachers" isn't one of them.

I also agree with Ren. If your "family issues" truly impeded your ability to excel academically, why didn't you explain it in the additional info section? You're probably just looking for excuses for your own mistakes.
