explaining bad marks?

Where should I write something like this in my app? Upload additional document?

And, is it good explanation that marks are not considered in college's admissons in my country, school doesn't rank, they're simply useless. Therefore, I wasn't so concerned about them to bake a cake for British&American Days at my school (so my English grade was only 4 out of 6 ), rewrite notes from Biology book, etc. just for getting a number on a sheet of paper. That doesn't mean I haven't learned my material, because I did, what is proved by very high SAT II scores.

should I write it??? my grade average is 4.15/6 (highest in class: 5,5)

No, that's a terrible excuse as it shows you're not motivated to do well unless there's a reward. I suggest you skip excuses as I don't think any will help.

I agree with hmom5, it sounds like you're trying to blame the system for your own shortcomings and that rarely works to your advantage.

I'm not blaming anyone, because I will write our exam well (proved by official practice exam) and could therefore easily get into top college in my country. U.S. education idea developed last summer, so it's quite new.

What do you mean by doing well? Is this about showing everyone that you are better? If it has no impact (ok, now it has) on my life, for what should I give up my passions? To get 5 (not the highest, though) students in my class are studying/doing homework/other school-related stuff about 5h everyday, and they're quite smart, though. I have many EC's, so it was impossible for me even if I would attach any importance to it.

ummmm... well why explain bad amrks if they won't see them???
i'm confused.....but on my apps i explained a bad grade on an AP test (A 1, very low i know)
but my excuse was really great (sarcasm): my house caught on FIRE the day b4 (really, it did)

Unfortunately grades do matter in this country, the one you are now applying to college in. There are schools here that give no grades and that do not rank. This does not mean American kids slack off at them and still hope to get into a good college.

The type of future leaders top colleges are looking for are the kind of people who are motivated to do well at all that they do. Who do not want to put their name on anything second rate. In college, work and life we all encounter tasks we woud rather not do. We would all like to focus on just what we enjoy and are passionate about. Unfortunately, we can not.

Even some high schools that claim they don't rank but colleges will rank them for you.
