Explaining my heritage......

All right, so I had a thread on this forum, and a current WashU student gave me some really good advice....so, I thought I might ask what you guys think about her/his idea.
So, I am a Native American enrolled in my tribe. I have contacted WU about this (because something was misrepresented on my CommonApp) and asked if they want additional documentation. They said no, but were glad to hear from me (i.e., they didn't seem annoyed).
This is all well and good, but I just feel like checking a box on the CA does not fully explain my heritage. I spoke about it a bit in the "additional information" section, but I feel like they should know more. WU is probably my top choice with Stanford, however, unlike Stanford, WU does not have any supplemental essays like Stanford (in which I expanded on my heritage a bit).
So, this WU student suggested I write a short explanation of my heritage and send it to Washington University. Does this sound just annoying or something that WU would read and be thankful for because it will explain my background a bit more?

Thanks for the read!

you should do it

Okay, I think I'll do it. Should I just send it to Wash U admissions' mail address? Also, do you think I should do this for the other schools that don't require documentation (which is basically all excepting UW-Seattle, lol)?

Lol, I had an inspired moment (not really) and just wrote the letter. I think I'm going to send it in tomorrow's post. Good idea? I found the address for "undergrad application and additional materials"......

I'm assuming you already sent it, but if not go for it! I sent in an additional essay and they seemed to be cool with it. Good luck!

haha the common app additional information has a lot of space, did it not fit in there? anyway, best of luck with it!

I explained it in there, yes, but not as in depth as the letter I sent the other day.

Do you think I should tell them that I sent a letter or do you think I should just let them receive it?
