I got a grade I'm not proud of in a a regular French 2 class during my sophomore year. But I have a reason (I didn't get along with the teacher and her teaching/grading policy, etc) Can I somehow explain this when submitting the transcript to Stanford?

I'm not sure I would word the explanation that way. It sounds too negative...you might be making things worse.

If you can find a way that doesn't make you look like a whiner, but that's pretty hard. I doubt it will help too much anyway.

Don't bother

No, bad idea. Explanations should never come from the student, get your guidance counselor to do it for you in his/her rec (too late) or a tagalong letter. If you do it, its unverified and sounds like complaining, if your guidance counselor does it it is legitimate.

Actually, I called admissions office before asking about the "additional info" section on common app.

Rep listed examples of what we could put down on it, she said "stuff like, an explanation for a certain bad grade..."

But I'm assuming your wanting to do this on the online update form for defered people
