Sara12, did you apply for the September program? And lol don’t be so down on yourself! It probably IS because you applied a little later.

I did apply for the September program. Though, elbeeen, if you applied for the other date, I don’t think the November people learn until mid October.

They sent me an invitation, and I googled the Explore Bowdoin website and nothing comes up…does anyone know where the online application is?

I believe the Bowdoin visit was emailed to my D originally in late August. We were surprised that it came/were not aware of the opportunity. Suggestion–have either you or your parent call their admissions office @ the first opportunity on Monday morning. Their website indicates their number to be (207)725-3100. The staff member we spoke to was super friendly & helpful. Their Sept event may already be spoken for, but I’m sure there’s still opportunity for their November event. And have your high school fax/email your transcripts to the college ASAP to get the ball rolling. I would do this for any school that you have interests in and who hosts such an event. Great success!

Who here is going next week to the program? I’m nervous for the interview!

[Online Reservation Form (Bowdoin Admissions)](http://www.bowdoin.edu/admissions/forms/explore/index.shtml)

Nice job/great service, LACSearch.

Big thank you to Bowdoin & the other schools that have such opportunities for kids to explore their schools. It takes energy, time & $ to make these things happen. As a parent of a perspective student participating in these events–much appreciated.

When do the people from the november session learn of acceptance?

did anyone else just get a discouraging email from bowdoin? I thought it was a rejection letter until the last paragraph, lol.

oh and elbeen, they said by monday.

Yep. I just read it, and freaked for a second. I thought it was a rejection letter, too!

^ Same, I got so worried!
Guess we’ll find out Monday :)

good luck everyone, Explore Bowdoin was awesome for me…

Thanks blarghh! But UGHHHH I didn’t get an email. Some guy kept emailing me saying they never got my transcript so I sent it again like a few weeks ago and never got another email Maybe they didn’t get and it and thus never emailed me that “discouraging letter” lol. Annoyance -_-

Hi. Would it be possible for someone who got one of those discouraging-sounding e-mails to tell us what it said? And for those who haven’t gotten any e-mail whatsoever, I wonder if that’s a good or a bad sign…

Thanks.

It said this marama:

We have received your application for the Explore Bowdoin Program. While the
response to the program was very positive, we have been inundated by several
hundred applications. For this reason, we wont be able to invite most of the
students who applied for the program. It is especially important that you
understand that we cannot accommodate most of the applicants despite their
strength. We hope that you will remain very interested in Bowdoin and choose to
apply for admission to the class of 2015.

It has also come to our attention that the program coincides with a SAT test
date. Several students have inquired about taking their test in Maine while
visiting the college. This is not possible so if you are scheduled to take the
SAT on November 6, please let me know immediately so that we can discuss
possible alternatives to the program.

We will notify you about the program by Monday, October 11. Acceptance into the
program is not a guarantee of admission to Bowdoin College. To that end, I must
reiterate that you should not be discouraged from applying to Bowdoin College
if you are not accepted to this program. Space is limited and we cannot
accommodate all applicants. If you have any questions, please contact me via e
mail.

Reading it again, it still sounds like a rejection letter lol.

Thanks so much for reproducing the e-mail message here. Talk about non-committal!
In any case, best of luck to all our forum participants.

bowdoin sent out explore bowdoin acceptance letters!

I just got mine!

I guess that last email wasn’t a rejection after all :D

Does anyone know the schedule for the 4 days, specifically the Sunday you leave… maybe someone who attended session #1 can chime in? I was accepted but have a family commitment on the Sunday in the afternoon.
