If my memory is right: My D got an Honors invite for an overnight visit (arranged on her own, but they help you connect with someone), and managed to combine it with an Explore Carolina (or similar) visit, and she did those in April.

In the past there were two types of Explore Carolina days; they had two events set aside for people they had offered monies to and were heavily wooing and those included an overnight for the student and a dinner for the students and parents in the Chancellor's Box in Kenan Stadium, and there were four or five other events that did not include the overnight. The process may have changed in the last four years as our S is now a senior at UNC.

ATLMom, we live in Sandy Springs. How about you? When we visit Chapel Hill we favor the Carolina Inn (DS#2 stays with his brother). Our older son lived at Granville Towers his freshman and sophomore years, so we could just walk 1/2 a block and be at his dorm. We also like the new Courtyard Marriott down by the Friday Center. It's pleasant, has a nice breakfast, and is actually more conveniently located for where DS#1 now lives (with three buddies in a very cute little house near Weaver Street Market in Carrboro). We can just scoot around the back end of campus to get to Carrboro.

EAdad, that "wooing" Explore Carolina event is definitely the event that we took our older son to in 2005. Wonder if they're just not doing that this year? I would think DS#2 would be invited, given the fact that his stats were, if anything, a smidge better than his brother's. Hmm!!

Cloying, you are incredibly helpful! Did you speak on the student panel last Friday at Scholarship Day?

No, I wasn't able to, I had a class! But you probably met a few friends of mine. I'm planning to go to the Scholarship Day for RD folks held later and either sit at a table or speak on the panel. Hope the day went well, and thanks!
