Thanks for the peptalk accepted1 I’m probably going to cry my eyes out if I don’t get into UNC, but i’ll try to keep that perspective in mind.

What is a d-1?

& good luck to you too!

Just a fancy way of saying Division One, as in their athletics :)

accepted1 - Your mother is right! That is was I keep telling my D! We are OOS & she’s of the opinion she won’t get in. Probably so she doesn’t get her hopes up…

We are in-state – and in a rural county that does not send a lot of kids to UNC (understatement of the millennium).

Best wishes and best luck to EVERYONE here!!

Rural-ish NC county as well. Here’s hoping they want geographical diversity :)

On a side note, I got accepted into NC State, and I do believe it is easier than UNC (I had friends accepted to State and not UNC, but by how much I’m not certain.) My mom also continues to tell me that I will get a great education and meet wonderful people, no matter where I go, but I’ve had my heart set on Chapel Hill since 8th grade

I’ve heard that athletes do not count as part of the out of state numbers. Since it is a d-1 school, almost all the athletes get huge scholarships and are not paying anywhere near the oos tuition. For budgeting purposes, the school needs the oos students to be paying the oos tuition, so I’ve heard athletes are not counted as part of this number.

From Wisconsin. Has UNC connection: Dad went to UNC in the 80’s.

from maryland…absolutely no connection to the state of north carolina and the only times ive ever been there are driving to and from myrtle beach hahaha…visiting unc next month tho!!

edit-visiting unc next month if i get in tho!! lol

my sister is CURRENTLY attending chapel hill (at the business school, kenan flagler). idk if that counts as legacy or not…hahah :D

I don’t know about you guys, but when I visited UNC I had some of the best southern food in the world. I went to time out chicken - I almost died. The biscuit with fried chicken OMG!!!

I think I saw that on the Travel Channel. They went to UNC-Duke-State and picked the favorite restaurants from the respective areas. I’m from NC, so I’m not quite sure what “southern” food is :)

They did a Man vs Food episode in the triangle :D. I’m from NY and southern food is godly.

That’s what it was! Well if you’re accepted here or UVA (like your username), I think you’ll find life in NC extremely different. For anyone who’s interested, I found this from last years stats (I’m sure this year will be similar):

[UNC News - UNC-Chapel Hill offers admission to 4,885 first-year applicants](http://uncnews.unc.edu/content/view/2068/107/)

I wish they would post decisions already.

i had the BEST sweet tea at this place called mcallister’s (sp?) in chapel hill…YUM.

hahaha i really REALLY hope i’ll be eating lunch/dinner at franklin street soon :]
my sister also says some stores deliver for a very little delivery fee late at night, how cool is that?
anyways, yeah it’s okay…the wait should be over soon. this is the last week of mystery haha

@UVAorbust I KNOW.

How do you guys plan on finding roomates? The university site? Facebook? I was just curious as to what most people do.

I was hoping to find someone on facebook or possibly here? Don’t really want to room with someone I already “know” but also not interested in random housing…finding someone I didn’t know but thought I could get along with would be nice :)

There’s a website called uroomsurf.com that’s basically facebook-esque site for incoming college students to find roommates. I think I am going to try that for whatever college I end up attending. :)
