I’d definitely recommend going through facebook, anything but doing it randomly! My HS sends about 30 kids to UNC/year, and I’m currently taking a gap year, but a lot of my friends already go to UNC, and I know that most of them who found roommates ahead of time are much happier with it than the ones who just went random.

At this stage, UNC is really playing coy about the decision date.

I wonder what that “around” means. Does that mean we could possibly get our decisions tommorow? I mean the 18th is “around” the 21st.

Yeah, I dont know how to interpret that. Today is “around” too

@UVAorbust, where did you get that exerpt? I could not find it on the blog.

it’s okay everyone, hang in there (=

It is one of the comments on the 1st post of the blog.

Decisions will come out when they come out. Relax y’all :)

K, so this is kind of a dumb question, but I just had to ask… Oldest child here, so I know nothing about the process of finding a roommate, etc: In the “random roommate assignments” made by the school, is there some kind of personality test or something to match you up with someone that you should work well with, or is it totally and completely random? lol

Some schools offer it because when I was considering UConn they asked you a series of question that matched you with a roommate and a dorm. Some schools have learning communities that put you together by majors and the same with your interests. It just depends on what school you go to. Do some research :)

Edit: I don’t know how UNC works though lol

I think they said at the tour that they have a personality test…but I think I’m going to try to find someone on Facebook beforehand.

haha yeah the roomate aspect of college should be interesting! There is a new movie coming out called “The Roomate”. I plan on seeing that with all my friends before we go to college so we can all joke about haveing a crazy roomate, lol.

Carolinahopeful-I’ve also wanted to go here since 8th grade! I first fell in love with the basketball team and as I did more research on the school I realized they have EVERYTHING I look for in a school. Ugh the list is endless!!!

I wish they accpeted everyone =( =P!

Thanks guys! Same here, I’ve honestly been wanting to go to Carolina since about 4th grade; been a Tar Heels basketball fan all my life and now I REALLY want to go to UNC and major in chemistry…What’s everyone else planning on majoring in?

@accepted1 Are you in-state or OSS? Agreed 100%. They have EVERYTHING I could ever ask for in a university. I had the opportunity to visit in September and unofficially shadow one of my friends who goes there (he had all large classes the day I went), and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Everything from the dining halls (we went to Rams Head and Lenoir) to just walking on campus and feeling the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. I will be extremely disappointed if I have to go to State or another school instead, but I guess c’est la vie

As for myself, I’m thinking about majoring in Biology, but I know for sure that I’d like to go on to medical school, so I may pursue and non-traditional major instead. I’m not quite worried about that yet

I plan to major in Biology [Human concentration] and Minor or double major in Asian studies with a concentration in Japanese language :)

@Accepted1: I’ve wanted to go to UNC since freshman year, but I wasn’t so sure about diversity. I took a tour, went to ProjectUpift and that got me even more interested.

UNC chemistry is among one of the best in the country. I am speaking from a perspective of a UNC Chemistry graduate. Good luck everyone!

Awesome! That’s what I’ve heard, I want to get in SO badly.

I saw today that honors and merit scholarship offers won’t be sent out until late January, I’m assuming this is after decisions? Has anyone gotten either? Or a likely letter earlier this year? Just curious…

I’m a freshie at UNC right now, but my boyfriend is a freshman applicant so this is like going through the same anxious anticipation TWICE! It’s so close, you guys! But I do have advice:

-If you get in, it will still be hard work once you get here, so don’t think your life is made forever. I think a lot of freshmen think they are set for life just because they get in… and then they take their first Bio test.
-If you don’t get in, there are plenty of other amazing colleges. I love UNC, but honestly I would have been just as happy at my second choice. If you had told me that a year ago, I never would have believed you.

Good luck to all of you!

Another day of waiting…

@Uvaorbust, we’re both so equally anxious i think it’s kinda hilarious.
i have to take my calc final tomorrow -.- this is a bad week. but if i get in, next week’s gonna be amazing.

I’m in the exact same boat. I was exempt from midterms on Tuesday and today, but have AP macro tommorow, and two more AP midterms on Friday. How do they expect me to study when I can almost taste my letter from UNC.

UVAorBust - Are you just clicking refresh all day?
I keep expecting the admit blog to actually change, too. Going to try to keep myself busy calling some schools that are missing D’s transcripts. Her school still sends by mail, and there was a mail truck that ended up accidentally dumping a huge mailbag on the highway.
We were laughing wondering if her transcripts & teacher recs were strewn across a field.
Now, I’m beginning to wonder…?
