Expressing Interest & Help

Hey everyone!
I’m currently a junior at a very small private school in the southeastern United States. I transferred in the spring of my freshman year from a public school in Pennsylvania so I had a couple incomplete classes to retake. I do not test well (took the SAT recently and got a 420 on math and 530 on the rest). I took the ACT the end of my sophomore year and got a 20 (had no geometry at that point. Just Algebra 1 & 2). I plan on studying a lot this summer to take the ACT in September. If that doesn’t go well, I do not plan on submitting scores to Bowdoin.

My current weighted GPA is around a 4.5. I’m taking a dual credit class (no AP classes at my school) and all honors for the rest of my classes. I’m Head Delegate (first student to run the team) of Model UN & Student Council Treasurer. Doing Girls State (very prestigious) this summer. Various volunteering gigs. Probably going to do an internship. Also, I plan on submitting a video of me playing the viola via Slide Room.

I’m not able to visit campus this summer (or at all unless I get accepted) because the trip up there is expensive and my dad works a lot. I plan on participating in an off-campus interview in the Fall if available.

I located my admissions representative on the Bowdoin Admissions website. I’m not sure what to exactly say. Do I just say that I’m interested in Bowdoin for the Class of 2021?

Thank you!

I didn’t visit campus before applying but I did email my admission counselor with questions. I think that’s a good way to introduce yourself and demonstrate interest. I also interviewed with an alum off campus. I was worried about not visiting and how that would affect my application, but I was accepted ED so I think as long as you interview on or off campus, that demonstrates interest on your part. You could also apply to the fly-in if you qualify.
