Boy, this rules...thanks Swat!

extended deadline? what!?

Sweeeet.... I just got it.

Jan. 20th, baby!

I hope this is for Early Decision, too.

how did you get it? Mail? Email?

By snail mail.

Did you request it? Or is the extended deadline for everyone?
is confused

I don't know. I sure didn't request it, unless they're God and can hear my prayers. I got a postcard in the mail from Suzi Nam, the multicultural admissions director, telling me I have till January 20th and a fee waiver. It's the second fee waiver I got, coz I went to Discovery Weekend. Since it's from Suzi and not the Dean of Admissions, I thought it might just be for the Discovery Weekend minority kids - because it takes us longer to uh write in English, or something. It didn't say that, though. It's probably for everyone - just wait a bit for the snail mail to get to you.

And Rafa, I don't see why it wouldn't be for ED too...

If it was for everyone, I'd expect to see something about it on the website (which I unfortunately don't).

Well I know commongi went to Discovery Weekend, too, so that doesn't disprove my theory.

I applied regular decision and I sent in the pre app already. I am a minority(armenian) though not part of any program. I coulfn't beleive it when I got it. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!

Now I can perfect my why swat essay

I got the extended deadline/fee waiver postcard too. I'm a minority, but I didn't apply to (much less attend) Discovery Weekend.

Like, wow! But I guess the extended deadline is not for all :(

Achat said something about the deadline being extended last time as well.

Armenian is not counted as a minority at most colleges: black, Hispanic, Native American are the "Under-represented Minorities."

I wonder if it is for those who sent in the supplement early.

If so, I feel sooooooo stupid for not doing it. I was just going to wait until I finished the essay, but now. arg.

Nope...I definitely still haven't turned in the supplement.

OK, were you on a mailing list?

I looked on the website and couldn't find anything about a change (Yale posted their 3 day push-back).

Lets figure this out for everyone who is hectic but has not recieved a postcard or anything. If someone who recieved a postcard has anyway of finding out if this is specific (perhaps a thank-you email with a casual question, but I guess they won't be back at work until January). It probably won't be a major deal, the only difference is the "Why Swarthmore" essay, but still...

I don't think I'm on a mailing list but I might be. I've signed up for so many of them...

I think the fact that it's from Suzi Nam (the diversity director person), and only minorities have recieved them, has something to do with it. But it's not discovery weekend-only kids, and some Discovery Weekend kids got the waiver but not the extension.

I emailed Suzi once with a question about ED II and I sounded pretty panicky, so maybe she was trying to ease my pain? haha. Did anyone else email admissions who got it?
