Extended Deadline? Chances?

Hi,

I was wondering.. Dartmouth has been contacting me for the past year or two.. They then extended my deadline. I'm not sure where they got my information from (my test scores are horrid), but I decided to apply. I have raised my ACT to a 28, but aside that I don't see my self as a very weak candidate. I do have the 1st generation and race card (Native American, Black (Caribbean), and Hispanic (Cuban).

But basically.. what I'm wondering is: Does Dartmouth extending my deadline mean anything in my chances of admittance (Increase?) About how many people do you think they extended the deadline for?

Not in particular, admissions sends out those letters for a lot of reasons. A lot are sent to under represented minority groups, for example.

Posts I read on here around deadline time seemed to say that Dartmouth extended its deadline for all minority applicants. I’m minority, but I submitted in November, so I wouldn’t know about that. So, the deadline extension means nothing. As for contact, Dartmouth gets your scores from the College Board as long as you check that little box saying that you want to receive info about colleges and scholarships. So they probably started sending info to you, along with 1000s of others, two years ago. It’s also meaningless.

non minority applicants were also emailed and offered extended deadlines. double-0h-nothing?

Yes. I have never marked my race on ACT/ SAT. I have marked “raced undisclosed”.

So, I was just wondering what the extension was for?
