EXTENDED DEADLINES!!! (condensed reference thread)

Well it doesn’t matter for me. Both of mine were submitted a few days ago. But I thought this would be a helpful resource for others.

But honestly, if a school offers an extended deadline to everyone and someone wants to use that time to work on last minute “problem areas” of their application, they should go ahead and use it if they want because you know a lot of other kids are going to anyway. So you might as well try to give it your best shot, even if that means using the extra days (that they are offering in the first place).

Did UCHICAGO, GEORGETOWN, GEORGIA TECH, or CALTECH also alter their deadlines??

Thanks for the help!

Affected people only. So really, if you’re on the internet posting on CC right now, you shouldn’t use the extension. Although it still affects people (like me) if their schools are closed and they can’t get things in on time.

@lacamotif - If you have phone/internet, check the colleges websites or call them tomorrow morning.

My D’s school (which is closed today and tomorrow, at least) sent an email saying that they would independently confirm with the school that she was affected.

Yale extended until Nov 2 (small print towards top):

Seems to be for everyone, no restrictions given.

Yale: 11/2
University of Pennsylvania - now November 4
UVM: 11/4
Harvard:11/4
Stonehill College - now November 8
MIT: 11/6
Elon: ED and Gap: 11/7
JMU: 11/8
Salve Regina: 11/8

^^Note that some extended deadlines are for all applicants, others are for ONLY for students in affected areas. Check the college websites for specific details.

UChicago extended until 11/7.

Can someone please confirm if uchicago is for everyone?

^^^It takes about 10 seconds to go to the UChicago website and see for yourself first hand from the primary source.

[Let me google that for you](<a href=“LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You”>LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You)

Guys, check the school website of all colleges you are applying to. And like another poster mentioned, if you are on CC you have internet access.
Sometimes people get so dependent on CC answering their questions.

Meant to word that differently. If the website doesn’t specify “only affected students” would the extended deadline apply to all?

Why would you (not just you in particular) need an extension if you were not affected?

I wasn’t meaning you specifically, I apologize if you think I was attacking you. Just saying. Colleges aren’t extending the deadlines because they want everyone to have a little extra time. Being affected by this storm is serious. Things should have been put together way before yesterday.

Oy vey!

People, use your fantastic CR skills! [I know you’ve got them if you’re applying to UChicago and the like :p]

I know it’s a stressful time, good luck to all!

Due to the East coast storm some schools have extended their ED/EA deadlines. Here is a link from NCAC (National Assn of Adm. Counselors):

Obviously don’t take the list as gospel. If applicable, contact the school directly.
