I think its sooooo unfair that a lot of kids use "learning disablities" as an excuse to acquire extended time. They pay their psychiatriast $4000 to get it and they have much more time for the SATs. Most of these kids do not have any learning disabilities at all! they pretend to be stupid just to get it, which then gives them an advantage over everyone else. there is a kid in my class who is very smart, gets good grades but has double the time to take the SATs. Now is he considered a smart person? how so if hes saying hes "retarded" and needs more time? in the real world, if one is performinf surgery, will one say "excuse me, i have extended time to do this" thats absurd.

Tell me what you think about this. This is the exact reason why SATs are part of a corrupt system........

you know life's not fair. I'll tell you what to do. Do better than them. That's all you can do. Unless you wanna choke up 4 grand for a psychiatrist to give you a note, that realy all you can do

I had a friend that had a learning disability and yet was too proud to get the real diagnosis. So he worked really really hard and got straight A's through high school and managed to graduate college with an excellent GPA. Of course since he did not get the diagnosis he always did really bad on standardized tests because he needed more time to complete the sections.

On a second note my sister had a friend that got tons of extra time to complete the CA bar exam for law. This friend did not pass and my sister did.

Basically I think it all evens out in the end. And there are some people that really need the extra time and I will not begrudge them that.

But colleges will know you have a disability...

What's really not fair is test security. Most kids can bring a pocket dictionary and use it in the bathroom.

It was mad easy to cheat on the PSAT. Even though there was so much extra space in the room, the desks were all close together and I could've easily seen the answer sheets of anyone in my proximity.

haha my friend does the fake learning disability too. His been classified with ADD since grade 6, yet he has perfect debate skills, perfect english skills (highest mark), perfect math skills (90%++) and everything else. he gets extra tiem on final exams too

theoneo,

thats why if you become a Semifinalist you need to submit an SAT score that meets or exceed the cutoff limit for the PSAT
