Extended Waitlist?!

Hey all,

Just wondering if there was any news on the extended waitlist that was put together mid-May. Lucky as I am to be on it, it's a bit tortuous not knowing what exactly they're going to do with it..
I mean, are they over-enrolled and just using this as a back-up? Or do they have about the exact number that they need? But then, won't they have a good 10 or so kids deferring enrollment for a gap year, a couple who get off another school's waitlist and enroll there instead, etc? Any ideas, anyone?

I think it’s been mentioned that C is probably overenrolled by about 100 or so. Therefore, a few tens of students leaving or deferring won’t change the situation. I hate to break it to you, but keep updating them and hope for the best!

“I think it’s been mentioned that C is probably overenrolled by about 100 or so.” You know I read that somewhere too - but I remember it being in the context of some more guesswork/rationalization why CC (or SEAS for that matter) isn’t using its waitlist. Not as actual information, or even a rumor really…

It’s hard to imagine why Columbia would not be using its waitlist if it were not at or above its target enrollment level.

^ because they want to make me miserable, duh
