Extenuating Circumstances

Right now I'm about to send in my transcript so I can be considered for an LOA. My test scores make me competitive, but my GPA and rank is iffy. I found out that I'm sitting on 3.39 UW and a 4.122 W. I also had a D for 1st semester AP Calc BC which I later replaced with an A from a college course over the summer. I'm wondering whether or not I should include a letter with the transcript explaining the changed grade(the D still shows, just not factored into GPA) and some "extenuating circumstances" that screwed up 1st semester junior year. My family moved just as I started junior year and the full-fledged IB program(which would've sucked anyways). I don't want to sound winy, but I'm thinking that taking the Calc course over the summer will be looked upon favorably, and that maybe Admissions will focus more on my test scores.
Here's hopin.
(BTW, does anyone know where to send the transcript to? Should I send it to the same place I sent my Presidential Nom?)

i had like a 3.2 with a 1420 old sat, dont worry about it

and get good recs

My dear friend,
I went through EXACTLY what you're going through, with the moving and the D and everything. Send in the transcript, and USMA is going to ask you why and you have to write them a letter. Easy peasy.

Hmm...first of all don't obsess over getting an LOA. Only a small number of applicants do.

Second, have you begun filling out the application itself? That would tell you where to send your transcript. You don't just send in a transcript and hope for an LOA. Anyway you don't send the transcript your school does. There are envelopes for everything including recommendations, etc.

Where are you in that process? You won't be considered for an LOA unless that other stuff is done. Good luck.

as I have noted before a dissproportionate number of CCers get LOA v population .... good --no great- if you get one, but if you are reading and don't ... continue on and you will be in good company

Is it required that the school send the transcript? I'm about to Next Day this thing myself.

Usually that's the case but I could be wrong.

I hope its not, Next Day costs 20 bucks. This could be one of those things that's so painfully obvious that my MALO didn't bother to mention it; he just gave me the address to send it to. Well, maybe I'll double up on it to be sure.
