<p>so i got an external hard drive for my mac laptop and have backed up everything on it. i was wondering if this means that i can just delete all of the songs on my itunes library now because they are on the external hard drive. will this work? i want to be able to plug the external hard drive back in and still be able to access my library. sorry if this is a stupid question. i'm not really great with computers</p>
<p>So is your iTunes also set up to get the songs from the new hard drive? If not, do that and it should work.</p>

<p>Why would you delete all of your songs anyway?</p>
<p>if they’re all on the external hard drive you can delete them and then add them to your itunes from the hard drive, I did it with my library because my main hard drive ran out of room</p>
<p>Or you buy something like “sound taxi” and covert them to regular mp3’s move them wherever you want.</p>
