External Internal Wharton

Hey guys. As I mentioned earlier on the board, I will be transferring to the College this fall at Penn. Is there ANY possible way to get into Wharton? I am willing to double major between the college and wharton (but not huntsman). Is this possible? Is there ANY way I can get into wharton?

Depends on what year you are. Will you be a junior or a sophomore at Penn?

I know after transferring into the school as a College student, there is no way to get into Wharton directly. I'm not sure about double majoring between the College and Wharton, but I would assume it has the same rules. You can, of course, always take Wharton classes...

newyorkcity, what were ur high school stats. I am interested in applying to Penn as a transfer from Cornell.

hey guys,

i will be entering Penn as a sophomore. i know i can take wharton classes, but i want the wharton degree.

collegekid1988, search my profile or my previous posts. i am sure i have my stats listed somewhere

i did, was BU the only school you got into as a freshman?

If you have taken or have credit for econ 1, econ 2, math 104 and a couple of other courses and have a good GPA you can try to transfer efter first or second semester your sophomore year.

It could be possible. Keep in mind that it would mean a lot less electives, and very careful planning if you want to take advantage of some programs like study abroad, since Wharton has quite a few core requirements (accounting, stats, finance, etc etc). It would be best to contact an academic advisor once you get to Penn in the fall.

I thought external transfers can't do internal transfers.

All the info is here:
http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/dualdegree/internal_transfers.cfm

Important tidbits:

"Applications are not considered after a student completes the fourth resident semester at Penn or another University."

and

"External Transfer students can apply for the dual degree program only (i.e., transfers are not accepted) after two resident semesters at Penn. They must complete the degree program in their home school. External transfer students accepted into the junior class at Penn are not eligible to apply for a dual degree with Wharton."

snipanlol, does that mean that i can apply as a dual major after a couple of semesters?

"External Transfer students can apply for the dual degree program only (i.e., transfers are not accepted)

what does this 'transfers are not accepted' mean?

An external transfer student is not permitted to transfer to another undegraduate school at Penn, but he is allowed to pursue a dual degree.

You can apply for dual degree after two semesters, no more, no less.

thanks snipanlol!!!!

one more question...for transfers, do i need to take a writing course. I took a whole year at BU and did very well, but I do not want to take any more writing courses. I want to focus my attention on other things. So, basically, is writing mandatory?
