External transfer

Hello, I am from Chicago, IL. I am interested in applying to W&M for Fall 2012. my questions are how competitive is the out of state transfer rate to W&M? My major is business by the way. And I have looked at the requirements for undergraduate transfer and it said I need to take Statistics, but I took Finite and Cal Bus for Soc Scie, so will it affect my procedure? What is the transfer GPA?

Generally we admit 40-45% of the transfers who apply. We are a bit more selective for out-of-state than in-state because W&M is a public university. To be the most competitive, we recommend you have a 3.5 GPA. As to majoring in business, if admitted to W&M you then have to apply to the Mason School of Business (after you’re admitted to W&M proper). To apply to the School of Business you have to have junior standing (54 credits) and have the pre-reqs (Finite and Managerial Accounting, Stats, Micro and Macroecon, Stats and Calc). If you’re applying to transfer in as a junior and want to major in business we will look to see that you’ve completed the the pre-reqs. If you’re a sophomore than you still have time to complete those pre-reqs. If you’re going to be a junior in the fall, we might recommend you take stats over the summer or switch into in for the spring semester since that hasn’t started yet.
