Extra Curricular activities

what are some good ways to get involved in science/technology and neuroscience in terms of co-curriculars?

Yes.

Nice!!11!

Non-profits in your area might be a place to start. All of them use computers (probably inefficiently) and have a web-site. I’ve yet to meet one that would turn down some free tech support. Neuroscience? Try an internship at an organization that serves adults or children with neurological challenges. Volunteer somewhere that is combatting the stigma associated with mental health issues.

Internships in labs usually requires some connections to come by, but reach out widely through your school and parental network. (Do your science teachers have contacts?) NIH has prestigious research internships: http://www.niehs.nih.gov/careers/research/summers/ Other science institutes, colleges or universities in your area may as well so do some searches. Lots of lab jobs will involve extensive grunt work and can be a turn-off (I cleaned rat cages for a summer…) so make sure you know how you’ll be spending your time.
