I'm a junior in high school and I was wondering how important being in clubs is to TCNJ? I really want to go this school but I'm not in any clubs or sports. Since it's the beginning of the school year now is the time to join some of the clubs, if it's necessary. Also how many clubs should I join?

My major is going to be Japanese if that matters.

Thanks!

It is important to join clubs or sports because it shows colleges that you are willing to get involved with things around you. They assume that you like to manage your time and use it well when they see you join clubs. It’s not really important how many you join, just find something you like and stick to it.

Yep, the person above me is absolutely right, and that’s for any college where you apply. They would rather you belong to only a couple clubs and be able to explain how you’ve invested your time and energy into that, rather than joining everything and not being able to explain your contributions. Join things that you’re actually going to enjoy and will want to volunteer with or head a committee, for example.
