Extra curricular

I am wandering how Pitt can look at any extracurricular activities/job shadowing/etc when there is no place to list these on their application??? Am I missing something?

I am fairly certain that they mainly look at academics. If you have something special you want to talk about, you can add them in your short essays that are sent after you submit your app.

In past you could submit a CV separately but maybe there is a new process? @hailtopitt1787 ?

@almostdonewithhs Is correct – feel free to use the Short Answer Questions to discuss any extracurricular activities you would like to highlight! It is not necessary to send a CV/resume, the Admissions Committee has found that the Short Answer Questions are sufficient.

So that’s new.

I think it was the same last year. And that you could self report academic record instead of sending a transcript.

Believe there was some entries about your ec’s - ala common app like but does current online app not allow that list either? Is that true? The short essays
are the only place to highlight? If so, makes it seem Pitt is automating screening more and more due to sheer volumes.

I don’t know. I only remember D listing on the application what courses she would be taking senior year. Two years ago she sent several LOR and list of EC separately, but starting last year they said that wasn’t needed.

But how do they screen for the students that get selected to apply for leadership scholarships, from the short answer questions alone?

Now that Pitt accepts the Coalition for Access appplication, does it provide room for more detail?

@mommdc, For the Stamps and Nordenberg Scholarships, we are now also requiring a separate supplemental application. This application is not open yet, but it will be shortly.

The Coalition Application has not been launched for Pitt quite yet. When it is, we will be able to provide more detail. Thanks for asking!

So for the students who want to be considered for Stamps and Nordenberg they will have an opportunity to provide more detail as to their EC and leadership experience in the supplemental application? That’s good.

@hailtopitt1787 Are there any numbers on how many people apply to Nordenberg and Stamps? I think the website says 10 get Nordenberg and 5 get Stamps but is there any data on how many applied? Thanks.

400 students applied for the Stamps Leadership Scholarship in the last admissions cycle. 240 students applied for the Nordenberg Leadership Scholars Program.

This is going to sound like a really weird question, but i felt it was appropriate for this thread, a lot of extracurricular activities at my school do not really ‘start up’ until after i plan to have my application out, and this includes the voting of officers (president, vice president), Is there perhaps a way to send an updated resume if wait listed? Like alongside the updated grades?

@fargosis, It is possible, but not necessary. Our Admissions Committee recommends that you use the optional Short Answer Questions to outline any extracurricular activities or important things you would like the Committee to know about.

Hope that helps clarify!
