<p>I'm really curious to find out if any one of my schools offers a very special extra curricular(THIMUN, not the regular MUN). I tried searching the school websites and google, no luck. I went through some of the guide books and I couldn't find anything...</p>
<p>Do any of the HADES offer THIMUN?

<p>Sorry mate, I did some research and as far as I can tell none of the HADES schools offer THIMUN. </p>
<p>Some such as Andover, Exeter and Deerfield do not even go to some of the regular MUNs like YMUN.</p>
<p>Hotchkiss and SPS do go to YMUN and this year Hotchkiss won outstanding delegation overall as well as 6-7 best delegate awards i can’t remember the exact number off the top of my head. An SPS got an outstanding delegate award as well. </p>
<p>When it comes to MUNs those two schools are the ones that compete. Hotchkiss is a powerhouse at MUNs. For the past six years they one two outstanding delegate awards and 4 best delegate awards. No other HADES school comes close in that regard.</p>
<p>Deerfield is very highly regarded by members of the Hotchkiss Debate team however but only for this one particular form of debate - i forget which but its not commonly used they are experts on it though. </p>

<p>I was looking for THIMUN mainly. Speech and debate is easy enough to find… I’ve been really trying to get to go to THIMUN. Do you think that a school would be willing to let a student form a THIMUN club? Would they pay for it?</p>
<p>Basically all you need to do is provide the tickets and hotel fair plus a supervisor.(Need past MUN experience to be selected). I think most Boarding Schools could qualify…</p>

<p>Thimun is pretty fun…went this yr. It was like a week or 2 ago. Its great and all by why do you want specifically the one in the hague.</p>
<p>I’ve done alot of small conferences, and I’ll be honest. When I hear, “Can we conquer another country?” 4,000 times… I start to shake my head a little. OR when I have to define “sovereignty”… I feel like a baby sitter half the time…
My partner in MUN always says, “Get on my level.” There is such a huge gap between those that take get it and those that don’t. I actually do alot of pranks and funny questions to make it interesting, but when it is a serious topic I’m legit.</p>

<p>basically, THIMUN is considered the “best” conference in the world, where delegates who are EXTREMELY motivated attend. my friend went and had an AMAZING time, of course because it’s in the hagues.</p>
<p>i chose not to go this year due to financial reasons, but would really like to next year if i am at another boarding school. i’m sure a lot of mun’ers feel the same way. any help would be great :D</p>
<p>(also… italianboarder mentioned signing up to be a part of THIMUN. I wouldn’t doubt that Hotchkiss would make it in a snap. Deerfield and SPS would probably get in easy as well. and i’m sure a lot of students at those schools would love to attend a conference like THIMUN)</p>
<p>This January the Northfield Mount Hermon Debate team stormed the Model United Nations conference hosted by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Two reaped “best delegate” in their respective areas. Competition was mixed, HS and collegiate.</p>
<p>Toadstool, was it the debate team or an MUN team? Do they have both?</p>
