Extra-curriculars important for Cornell transfer?

I am a pre-med freshman at SUNY-IT and just finished my first semester with a 4.0. My SAT scores were 740 math, 660 reading and 610 writing. I would like to transfer to Cornell in the spring semester of my sophomore year. I am confident that I will have a 4.0, a good essay, and great letters of recommendation. However, I am worried that my current weakness is a lack of EC activities. I am working a part-time job at a restaurant during summer and winter break and, during summer, will be doing an internship/shadowing with a doctor. Besides that, I really haven't done many extracurricular activities. If I maintain a 4.0 and write an excellent essay, will I have a good chance of being accepted for transfer?
