I'm a pre-nursing freshman at a community college and want to transfer into the BSN program at UCLA, UCI, or any cal states. I volunteer at a hospital already & understand a high GPA is needed.

I emailed the UCLA nursing admissions on what they look for in a transfer & they said "HEALTH CARE EXPERIENCE, LEADERSHIP, EXTRA-CURRICULAR EXPERIENCE".

WHAT TYPES OF EXTRA-CURRICULARS DO YOU SUGGEST I TAKE? HOW ABOUT LEADERSHIP IN WHAT AREAS?

I would try to do paid or volunteer work in health care.

Many colleges want to see students who have actually organized and led one organization as opposed to someone listing many different organizations for which they did little. For example, you could volunteer to lead a charitable fundraising event. As long as you have some experience in health care (which could be volunteer), you can pick the extracurriculars that interest you. Ones that involve charitable work would look best.
