Why do people say do activities you enjoy and don’t do activities that look good for college?

cuz they can tell >_> and anyway you'd probably stick with the activities that you like and colleges like that :) soooo you're both happy

because one leads to the next, eventually.

do what u enjoy .

but then, if you're in desperately need (time), u should do something just to get into college

i mean, it's good to do what u enjoy, and u should, if u can

but if u cant, then...do what u must

because activities that you enjoy WILL look good to colleges... you will be inclined to stick with it, take leadership positions etc. you are not going to be inclined to impress a college with two years of Varsity ummm "Stickball" (for the sake of argument) because it is rare, as opposed to four years of cross-country with a mini-trophy room in your house just for you in addition to bragging rights as captain. what will impress colleges (what will "look good") will be what looks good to you.

Just for a bit of the longer view--doing activities you enjoy will help you discover what you want to do in life. They may lead you to the career that is right for you. They will be more satisfying and help you through when you get tired of AP classes and homework and all that stuff you HAVE to do. And, in the long run, finding your passion in life is far more important than what college you end up attending.

But what about student government, for example. Whether you like it or not, it shows leadership.

bump bump bump

exactly trackman....even though we all say you should do what you want, I don't believe there is a person on this board who isn't involved in atleast one activity that they started because they knew it would be benifical to getting into college.
