extra info on myberkley app page

Is it mandatory to fill this out if there's a link there? does that say anything about acceptance chances?

thanks,
dmission

What does it say? They should be starting to send out the supplemental questionnaires for select students about now, so it may be that, depending on what is stated.

Aw, nothing's special on my My BerkeleyApp page. Now I feel bad.

If you got the additional info request as part of your my Berkeley Application login it would really behoove you to fill it out.

Oh, and don't feel bad or good about not getting it. Getting the request just means that the department wants to get to know you a little better before they make a final decision. Getting it's not good or bad and not getting it isn't good or bad. But, if you do get it, you REALLY should take the opportunity to tell the admissions staff a little more about you.

IMHO, of course...

ok thanks
beatchick - it's just some essay thing

dmission, I got the same thing when I was applying. Fill it out. It basically means you're on the borderline.

One word of advice, if you are a HS senior, I sure as heck hope that your fall semester grades were good.

If you didn't get one and your grades/sats were a bit below the averages, is that a bad sign?

thanks

OH I thought it was for Regents... now I feel a happier.

This means I'm on the borderline? No! I thought it meant I was going to get some scholarship money! The questions on there are like:

Are any of/most of your friends applying to a four-year college or university?

Did you have a desire to take more advanced college preparatory courses offered at your school? If yes, please describe what prevented you

Does your high school provide adequate educational resources (such as teachers, counselors, assistance with course selection and college admission planning, books, facilities, size and location)? If not, please explain

How many hours do you spend doing homework and/or studying each day?

Are there any personal circumstances that may have affected your ability to achieve academically (such as working, family responsibilities, etc.)?

and What have you done to make your community a better place?

*** Lot of these I stated clearly in my app! Like I took all IB classes and such so IDk....

Some people I know don't have the survey yet...
does it appear on different people's pages at different times?

oh no sorry but I am sure that it wasn't meant to give you any scholarships. even though u stated them clearly on your app, when you are on the borderline they still want to get to know you more - that's why they ask you these questions to give you a chance to convince them why they should pick you.

Did it state in there that filling it out can only HELP your chances and cannot hurt you? Because that is what the Berkeley admissions people have told me. So fill it out and give them the information they are looking for. At least that dispels the myth that Berkeley does not spend time reading kids' applications as they clearly read yours and now want to read more from you. Best of luck using this opportunity to give them one or more reasons to admit you.

Oh weird...the myBerkeleyapp page for me only says that my application is currently in review and then nothing else. Am I even at the right place?

^^ yes, you are. Don't worry if you don't have it.

I got 2 B's (ap calcAB & ap literature) and im nervous about submitting it!

Anybody receive an email or snailmail informing them of the additional requests and associated deadlines?

I found requests for a reference and a questionnaire that appeared last Saturday, but nine days later, still nothing in email or postal mail that would have warned me. The teacher reference request mentioned ten calendar days but not a start date for the countdown, whereas the questionnaire is mum on any deadline.

Since others have found the additional requests, have any of you received the notification that sets the deadlines?

i just received the email with the 10 day mark. i didn't receive anything in the mail

How long before the email did you see the requests in your MyBerkeleyApplication page?

You should be able to access the questionnaire on your MyBerkeleyApplication page via the email UCB sent you. UCB only sent an email but I don't know if they also sent something in the mail- didn't receive this information by mail.

My problem is the opposite.

Found links on MyBerkeleyApplication nine days ago. Still no email about it. Fortunate to have checked and submitted them but wondering how long they delay from putting up the additional requests until they send the email.
