I’m planning on having an extra rec letter submitted, but does anyone know how I’d go about sending it? I know some colleges require you to fax it in; do I just mail it to the admissions office?

Thanks in advance. :D

I just had my recommender mail it in, but i am sure fax is fine as well.

Sounds like a good plan; thanks! I’ll probably ask her to mail it in as well then.

Who did you guys get yours from? What extra aspect does it give of you?

I got one from a Brown student, and a brief one from a Brown professor~
they provide more insight of you outside of school and another point of view.

I got mine from my youth minister at my Church - I have been involved with a volunteer organization there for 8 years. He could reveal a lot about my personality, dedication to volunteering, and he knows me well enough to talk about my goals, etc for the future. These are all things that my teachers who have known me only a year or two are not able to tell Admissions.

In addition to two teacher recs and my counselor’s rec, I got one from my research professor and another from the director of student life at my school. Since I didn’t win any research competitions or awards, I figured that my professor’s recommendation would cement research as one of my important ECs rather than just a blip on my resume. I also don’t think Brown was very familiar with how time-consuming officer positions at my school are, and I couldn’t really describe in depth what I do as co-president of student council on my resume, so I thought that a rec. from the director of student life would add more depth to my student government-focused ECs. hope that helped.
