Extra recommendations - How to send them and who to send them to

Hello guys! It came as a surprise, but my former employers (pretty high-up-there guys) decided to write me an extra rec. and printed it out for me in 4 **sealed **envelopes. Now,

*1) **Is it ok to simply address it to the admissions office of the college? How will they know who is it for? **Should I just put APPLICANT: [my name] on the back of the envelope? *

2) I'm applying for Harvard, Stanford, Brown *and *Yale. I know some schools hate seeing extra recs. *Which of these don't mind them? *

Thank you very much for your time and attention. ;)

anyone? :)

I can answer about Stanford for sure. In the applying guide '09. They say that it is ok to send one extra rec. And they direct the applicant to place their full name, birthday, school and Common App. ID number on the top of the letter. The applying guide may be downloaded from their website.

Be careful with extra recs... They often say that extras are disliked, unless there is something that is REALLY different, and offers a lot of insight on you.
