How important are SAT subject tests in ivy admission ?

For an athlete?

Yes , btw my apologies I didn’t post this thread properly

You will need to have 2 subject tests with competitive scores. How high depends on what sport, and how high your SAT I or ACT is. Helmet sports like football and hockey are usually more flexible than track, lax, swimming, crew.

If you search “Academic Index” on this site, and others, you can plug your numbers (SAT I and II, class rank, etc.) in that formula and see how you stand.

It is my understanding that they don’t factor the SATII scores into the AI (even though the calculator on this site includes it).

This URL presentation was cut and pasted from another thread on this site. Lots of answers to many questions in this document. According to this presentation, SATIIs are a factor but it depends on the various AI calculation methods (also described in this document).

I know in my son’s case, SAT2s were important as a recruited Ivy athlete for admission in his chosen major.

When my son spoke to one particular Ivy coach, he was told he would have to submit SATII’s but only the SATI was used to calcualte the AI. I can’t open your link, but I have the same article saved to my favorites, and in discussing the methods used to calculate AI, the article notes: Generally, 2/3 SAT-I Average + CRS is used. Is it dependent on the particular Ivy or major? I am not certain, but I do know that at my son’s prep school, the initial AI to calculate academic eligibility for recruited athletes is always based only on the SATI or the ACT with writing.

Our student had to submit 2 SAT2s…
We were told that the SAt1 sections and SAt2s needed to be over 700 per section for best results

Your mileage may vary

If you search here on CC–there are calulators and links to explainations. Also

For one of the ivies that is recruiting my daughter, the SAT IIs were definitely important. They waited to offer her an OV until after those scores from the May testing date had been released, and they told us that was what they were waiting for.
