Ok, I'm in some deep doo-doo. I'm in marching band, I enjoy it, a lot. My dad, doesn't agree, he wants me to quit because he considers it "too time consuming" and a "waste of time" I strongly disagree, though I do admit, I go to bed quite late, however band has nothing to do with it, I'm a procrastinator. Anyway, I don't know what to do, my dad already forced my older sister out of track, and I want to avoid the same fate. Help?

Good ECs help tremendously with admissions. Tell him that music is a worthwhile EC and you may want to promise that you’ll go to bed earlier if he lets you keep it up (just to demonstrate that band is not the reason).

As far as band helping with admissions, it can. Show him this: This year my high school had three people get accepted EA to Stanford, all of whom were in band. Last year we only had one accepted to Stanford, also in band. My friend who got accepted to Harvard plays bari in band, my friend accepted to Cornell plays bass in orchestra.

In my acceptance letter my admissions officer specifically mentioned music as a reason for admittance.

Do you have to play an instrument in school?

Stop procrastinating and prove to your dad that you can go to bed at a reasonable time while maintaining being in the marching band.
