<p>Extracurriculars aren’t nearly as important as they were in high school, and for most, work experience tends to be enough.</p>
<p>As far as I know EC’s can factor into an admissions decision, however if being involeved in them means that your grades will be lower because you wont spend enough time focusing on your classes, I dont think you should do them… However if you can do both, I dont see why it would hurt to get involved with something you like.</p>

<p>Work experience is only taken into consideration if the job is necessary for sustenance, as opposed to pocket money.</p>
<p>Otherwise, ECs are, as mentioned above, not important in the same light as high school, but they can still play a role in an adcoms decisions; also, UCB/UCLA will take them into consideration more so than other, lower tier, UC campuses may.</p>
<p>But, ultimately, GPA and the completion of major prereqs are significantly more important.</p>

<p>In response to your question, it seems that EC doesn’t really matter too much in CC. Just concentrate on maintaining a high GPA and finishing IGETC and your required coursework for your major. I guess if you’re interested in getting into Haas is where EC is very important.</p>

<p>If you are looking at UCLA and UCB and to an extent UCSD extracurriculars can help you get admitted. If you are planning on doing extracurriculars you should either 1) get a leadership position. 2) do an extracurricular that will complement your major. And do some volunteer work.</p>
