Extracurricular Activity Overload

Many people on the elite college boards list numerous ecs.
When I mean numerous, i'm looking at anywhere between 12-16 plus or minus a few.
On the common app you're only allowed 10 spots for activities, why list all your extracurricular activities, better yet, why do so many in the first place, if you're only allowed a maximum of 10 spots?

Like to hear people's opinions
hmu

Beacuse many people do not do extracurricular for the sake of only impressing colleges.

Quality > Quantity It does not get much more simpler than that. Do what you love !

how can it be quality over quantity if im taking about how people go over the limit on ecs…?

sometimes they are genuinely looking for advice on how to pare down to the ten that are most beneficial. Sometimes they’re bragging. Sometimes they’re just cutting and pasting from some CV/resume w/o thinking. Some are listing items hoping to find people with similar ECs to chat with.

Who knows?

good point
i shouldnt take them too realistically
