I'm currently applying to colleges and I've come across the "Activities" section of the CA. Now, there is one specific extra curricular that I'm in the process of doing right now. I'm putting together a tutoring program through a local children's organization and my school. I'm not sure whether to list this in my application yet or not because we are still in the organizing phases of the project and the actual program may not start until later this year (maybe Spring, when clearly my applications will have long ago been submitted). Should I still mention this on my application? On one hand, it's very important to me and it takes up a good deal of my time outside of the classroom, so I feel it's worth mentioning. On the other, though, I don't want to give any false pretenses that the program has already begun to the colleges. Any advice??

I would mention it as an activity this year. You could put “Currently planning, scheduling, interviewing tutors, gathering materials. Tutoring to launch Spring 2015.” If you don’t have room for that in the itty-bitty space for the description, say “See Additional Information” and then put your EC title in there with that type of sentence following it. Be concise, not wordy, but make sure you get the current status across in a way that shows you are active now.

Yes, i would absolutely mention it. Phrase it somewhere along the lines of “currently organizing a tutoring program with expected launch date of spring 2015”. When I applied last year, there were things that were in limbo or in the works: choreographing senior solo for dance to be performed june 2014, soloist with youth orchestra mid-december 2013, currently programming iPhone application, etc.
