Hi,
I want to do major in computer science. Right now, I am sophomore in high school. I was wondering if the extracurricular activities will have to be based on major, or not. If that is correct, what kind of extracurricular activities can I take relating computer science?
Can you give me examples of other best extracurriculars too?
my current extracurriculars: chess, piano, quizbowl.

It helps to have a STEM side to your extracurriculars; after all, if you are not passionate in it, then how can you major in it?

You can try web design (somewhat related) for local organizations or research. Honestly there aren’t that many comp sci ecs compared to that of the medical field or business, but try to be unique in your approach.

Does your school have a robotics club? There is often a lot of computers integrated into robotics. Additionally you could start your own “web designing” business if you know a few things about how to run it. Colleges love to see stuff like that, but I haven’t the first clue on how to go about starting a business.

start CS or math club… starting a small business making/editing other businesses/schools/church websites… start volunteering by teaching people in the library to code/use computers… contribute to an open source project… make a game…
