Will adcoms look at it negatively if you start a new EC in your junior year but you have definitely been involved previously? Because I have a new passion that I am definitely going to pursue, not really because of colleges but because of the inherent satisfaction of the activity, but despite doing it only for a year, how can I convince adcoms that I am passionate about this activity?

If you have such a passion about it, don’t focus on what adcoms are going to think about it. Just enjoy your time doing it and next year you can decide how to show it to adcoms. It can be your smaller Common App essay, or can be in your activities section of the Common App along with showing how much time you spent doing it. You can write about it on your resume if you attach one to your Common App, it you can include it in supplemental essays to the colleges. You can kindly ask if a teacher or guidance counselor writing your letter of recommendation could include it in there, or you can speak about it in adcom or alumni interviews, in which case it will likely be included in the letter/summary that they write.

…But for right now… just enjoy it!
