This is a thread where we can post our EC's and get feedback. My EC list has been updated, so I'd like some feedback and, this way, everyone else can also get some feedback.

I'll start off.

9th grade:
-Debate-Pres
-Mock Trial-Pres
-Programming Club

10th grade:
-Debate-Pres
-Mock Trial-Pres
-Research-I am working on my own project under a mentor. This may lead to a publication as first author further down the line.
-Writer for my state's main newspaper; I write op-eds.
-I also founded a charity organization that currently has about 10-15 people in it; we've raised 1,000 dollars in the roughly two months we've been active, and we plan to raise 10,000 dollars by the time I graduate.

11th grade:
-Plan to continue my 10th grade EC's. If current research project is complete, I plan to start a new one.
-I'll lose my leadership positions since I'll be transferring to my state's math/science academy. (Also, how would I put this in my application? Would I have to explain why I lost the positions? Would I say something like "Debate-President (2 years)"?)

12th grade:
Same as 11th/10th

Question 1: How are my EC's? As you can see, my main "hook" is research. Would having a publication in a journal be good enough to have research as my main EC? I also plan to enter a bunch of the science fairs with my work. I am also probably going to do relatively well at debate; last year, we didn't go to any competitions, but we went to our first tournament a few weeks ago, and my partner and I placed in the quarterfinals in varsity, despite it being our first time ever debating. We're confident that with practice, we can get to at least state.

Question 2: Are there any ways I can improve? I mean, is having ~3-4 EC's good enough if I show a lot of focus in two or three of them? I really love research, and starting on Monday, I plan to devote significantly more time to it. At the latest, I plan to have the project done by the end of the summer.

Feel free to post your own stats and hopefully receive some feedback/advice.
