Aything you want as long as it’s something you want to do and not just something to get you into the program (they will see through that). Hopefully at least one of these things you like to do involves being in a clinical setting, like volunteering/working at a hospital, nursing home, free clinic, etc.

How will they see through that? I don’t get it…

Not that I don’t enjoy helping people (actually helping people is most likely the main reason I’m aspiring to be a doctor), but let’s say if Bob volunteered at a hospital and said he did so because he wanted to make a difference in his community, and he wanted to know what it was like to be doctor, which, during his conversations and first-hand experiences, he found to be very exciting.

How would colleges see through that?

I think nate763 means, that if you do something solely for admissions (and not for helping the community), then they will see through that. They can judge whether you truly enjoy it, or you force yourself to do it.

Do high school extra curriculars matter? I mean, during undergrad you have tons of research opportunities and better volunteer positions.

Med Schools look at Undergrad GPA, MCATs and EC’s in undergrad. Don’t stress yourself now.

^ I know, but I’m looking forward to enter those programs (from high school) that automatically get you into medical school…

ahh, those 7/8 year programs. What if you change your mind during undergrad? What if law or business or engineering appeals more to you? That would suck wouldn’t it.

^yeah, not so much into those.

I want a job with science that actually provides immediate help to people in need, a job that actually has a significant impact on someone’s life.

But thanks for the suggestions…
