Extracurricular Stress

So, as I research colleges, it just reminds me of the fact that my extracurriculars are nearly nonexistent. I'm currently a sophomore in high school with an 3.9 average so far. I definitely would like a science-oriented career, my first choice being a surgeon. If That doesn't work out, I'd want to become a scientist (not sure on specifications on that). I plan to double up on science classes next year again(I've already taken Physics and now I'm in Biology and Chemistythis year) and take AP Biology and Geology of National Parks for my junior year. Senior year I'll probably take Human Phys.(pretty much Anatomy), Psychology, and maybe AP Environmental Science. I would take more but we get one less choice of classes because it's mandatory to take 4 years of Religion because I go to a private Catholic school.

Current Extracurriculars:
-On a varsity tennis team (I hope to be on the team junior and senior year)
-Started a dance class at school (I'll start dance classes outside of school once I find a studio that has times that fit my schedule)

Future Extracurriculars:
-Volunteer at a hospital once I'm old enough to drive (November of junior year)
-Summer medical program summer after my junior year
-If this is even an extracurricular: Hiking the Camino de Santiago, a 35 day pilgrimage through France and Spain this upcoming summer

Far-fetched Ideas/Need Research:
-Starting a Operation Smile club junior year, which raises money to fund operations in 3rd world countries to preform surgery on children with facial deformities(cleft lip/palate)
-Trying to join a science oriented competition such a USA Biology Olympiad or the Science Olympiad
-Getting music lessons, preferable a jazz instrument
-Joining Science Club junior year, but I dislike the moderator

The troubles I face is not having a passion for the activities I try out and ultimately never committing to it. This might also be influenced by the lack of science activities outside of school and if there are any they are more than 30 minutes away. Any suggestions or feedback would be much appreciated.

If you don’t have a passion for it, then don’t do it. High School is not about getting into college, high school is about learning and exploring your interests. Don’t be afraid to experiment in different things and once you find something you enjoy, stick with it. If you stop focusing on filling a quota for a certain university and do things you enjoy then your passion will show in your college application. You are a sophomore, so you have some time to experiment still. You should try out a bunch of different things, so that when you are a junior you know what you want to do and you do it. Get involved around your school and community in the field that interests you. Volunteering at a hospital is a great one, do more like that and you should be good to go. Extracurriculars are not meant to stress, they are meant to be something that you enjoy.
Good luck!
