Extracurricular

Okay, so here’s the deal. I’ve had straight A’s throughout high school. Have taken 7 AP class so far, and going into senior year that number will go up to 12 (or possibly 13). However, im not sure my extracurriculars are so great. I just recently took the sat for the first time with very minimal day-before review and scored a 2090. I plan to hopefully raise this to 2250 or greater.
My ECs;
-Dance and choreographing inside and outside of school-4 years (actually more but in case of high school)
-key club member 4 years
-nhs member 2 years (at my school you can only join as a junior and senior)
-French club member junior year and secretary for senior year
-part time job from August 2014-February2015
-probably another part time job starting this summer
-may start a soccer club at our school and be co-president/co-founder but that would only be one year
-various volunteer hours
I’m just worried it’s nothing significant and kind of all over the place. I’m aiming for schools like USC. Schools like Stanford would be nice but I’m not too sure I’m that caliber haha. Any input/advice is appreciated!!

4 on ap euro; 5 on ap comp sci
Awaiting psych, bio, calc ab, lang and comp, and apush scores

My possible majors: architecture, engineering, or computer science, maybe business? I’m really not sure at all though :confused:

Hey so your grades look great (as I’m sure you’re aware), and I think you shouldn’t have an issue raising the SAT score, and there’s always the ACT

As for the extracurriculars, you seem to be reasonably involved! While it may be too late to start something new, I think what’ll be best for you is to throw yourself into those that you feel a passion for, and make sure when filling out the common app/school-specific apps to explicitly detail your interactions within these groups. You have to remember two things: first, involvement is not always the number of clubs but the effort you put into each one, and leadership is not the number of presidencies you hold but the little things that add up, and second, many an undecided major has gotten into selective schools. You’ve got this :slight_smile:

Thank you so much!! You’re making feel a whole lot better about these things. I wish I was able to move up in key club but it’s too late for that. So many mistakes haha. But thank you thank you!! :slight_smile:
