Extracurriculars for Brown

Hey!

So, I'm only a freshman, and so far I've been a straight A student, and I think I can get a pretty decent SAT score. What I'm really worried about are my ECs. This is what I did this year:

Model UN

Key Club

Gay/Straight Alliance

Drama Club

Youth for Human Rights (this is a church group that meets sunday after service)

Football, Junior Varsity

Basketball, Junior Varsity

Baseball, Junior Varsity

I have pretty good chances of making Varsity for sophomore year in all three sports. I'm worried that I'm focusing too much on sports, but it's actually one team for each season... So maybe if I'm really good they can recruit me or I can ger a scolarship or something?

Also, does church group count as community service? And is four clubs too many? I really love them all, and I can probably get a leadership position for junior and senior years.

What I'm worried about is that it'll look like I'm doing too much just to get into a top college, when I actually love doing all that. So, do you think it's too much? What should I drop and what sould I change?

I REALLY want to go to Brown, or maybe Emory or Northwestern.

Thanks for reading, I hope you can help me.

I agree that it will likely look like you have joined every club in the school to look impressive. What really makes an EC impressive is when you find one or two things that you are very passionate about, and go far in them. I don’t see any themes in that list.

Be more committed to ECs. It is better to have three or four ECs where you are extremely involved/have leadership roles, then 15 clubs that you where a member of. Focus on finding something you are passionate about.
