Extracurriculars, Part 2

Hey again. My first post about extracurriculars can be found here:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/1870039-extracurriculars.html

Yesterday I received the news that I was going to be inducted into the National French Honors Society

Also, I really love science and I was thinking of trying to start a Science Olympiad team at my school. It’s something that I’m genuinely interested in - but I don’t want to do something that’ll just take up valuable time without making me more attractive to colleges.

So I guess what I’m asking is - would starting and probably captaining a Science Olympiad team look good enough to selective schools to offset the time and energy it would take?

bump?

If you are questioning this, then you are not willing to dedicate yourself to sci oly. See, if you are really passionate about science, and your school doesn’t have a team but you want to make a team to represent your school, you would have done it already. Creating a club/team already shows leadership skills and willingness to take charge. Choose something you are passionate about. If you really are passionate about science, then go for it, because the “waste of time” wouldn’t matter in the end.

@penngirlpending I honestly didn’t know Science Olympiad existed at the high school level until yesterday… and I really do want to do it, but I’m taking some pretty tough classes next year and I don’t want to overload myself. But thank you for your advice, and I do think I’m going to ask my AP Bio teacher about it.
