What are avergae extracurricualrs for UCLA and UCB admits- and also other elites (USC, Rice, Northwesten, Georgetown, Vandy, Emory, etc…)
Also anyone think their EC’s are the main reason they got in?
ECs won’t get you into an elite college you are not otherwise qualified to attend unless you are a recruited athlete, won a Nobel prize like Malala or something along those lines.
Other than that there are no “typical” ECs. The top schools are looking for people who are deeply involved in things they care about.
Based on the academic stats you posted elsewhere you need to expand your list of schools to include some less selective choices.
ECs come into play if your academic stats put you into the game. They won’t make up for lower end academic stats (relative to the college’s incoming frosh) unless your EC is a sport good enough to get your recruited for it.
Also, at the most selective colleges, the typical ordinary ECs are common and expected. For ECs to actually help, you must have done something exceptional, like earn a state or national level award or recognition in something (and not an award that they give hundreds or thousands of in the state).
NCAA recruited athletics are about the only sure fire.
is varisty swim plus being a tutor plus tutorial club VP good for atleast top UC’s?
Those would be typical ECs, rather than exceptional ones.
RSI, MOP, TASP and similar for non atheletes
Very important for the UC’s: UC GPA/HS course Rigor/Test scores and essays
Important: EC’s
All things being equal meaning, the EC’s can set you apart but if you have met the competitive academic threshold, then you still have a good chance at the UC’s (unless you have no EC’s).
gpa and tests are first… then EC
the only good EC i had was i won a county ART comp, and also took ap art, depsite the fact i wasn’t super interested in art, and I had 32ACt and about 4.1 someting UC gpa
i mean i got into Art at UC berkely but not LA.
Maybe because of the EC, idk, but focus on ACT/SAT and GPA first, but since i assume ur a junior complete, i guess do essays, and if possible good summer programs.
If you have a Nobel Prize, a Grammy, an Emmy, a Tony, an Oscar, or a Congressional Medal of Honor, I would say you are shoo-in at any University.
