Extremely Confused!

Ok, at the moment i'm stuck in a particularly odd scenario.

I sent in my NYU application to Steinhardt over a month ago, so they may well have it by now, but me being the curious individual that I am, decided to try to log into the NYU HOME system (<a href="http://start.nyu.edu%5B/url%5D">http://start.nyu.edu</a>) using my SSN and birthdate and miraculously enough, i was able to access my NYU student email and all of student facilities.

normally, i would assume this is some sort of prelude to an acceptance letter
BUT here is where it gets tricky:

i'm a college sophomore at the moment, and as a senior in HS i applied to NYU and was accepted, so i'm just wondering is this account still active from my last acceptance over 2 years ago, or does this mean that i might have possibly been accepted for next fall?

PLEASE, I REALLY NEED SOME HELP WITH THIS. It's killing me, i mean, i guess i'm back where i was before hand with being in the dark about my acceptance, but i'm just wondering if anyone has any insight.

I applied to Stern. I have never been previously accepted. I tried to do whatever you did, and I received the following message:

Our record of your NYU ID and NetID differ from what you have typed in.

Your situation is very strange. I was under the impression that NYU does not release admissions decisions for transfer students until late April.

I tried again this time I used my NYU ID, and I received this message:

ATTENTION! we have not been able to verify your identity by matching our records of your ID with your date of birth. This can occur if our database does not contain correct date-of-birth information or if you didn't correctly enter your birthdate.

Good luck.

well, i'm guessing that my ability to access this site is just because my student information is still logged into their system from senior year.

Still, 2 years seems like an extremely long time for them to keep my records on hold.

Honestly, there's no telling. It may just be policy to create the foundation in advance of decisions. Once decisions are made, then they will be prepared.

This happened to a friend at a different school. He got wait listed but he could access everything up until the point of his registration being blocked.

Just be careful not to pull what the Harvard MBA's did and hack their way in.
You don't want to break any honor codes while you're knocking on the door.

As they say, "patience is a virtue."

Good luck!

By the way, I just the birthdate on my application and it was correct, so I don't understand the second error message that I received.

yes, schools like stanford tells you that they keep your info.

I would advise you not use your personal home page because I think their is some kind of disclaimer that states that only students, faculty, and staff have the right to use the site. If you are not a student yet, even if NYU is planning to accept you, you still don't have the right to use their site until you are officially admitted.

yeah, as much temptation is there to log in and just search around, i think it's probably in my best interest to wait a few weeks and just forget about it for the time being. i actually really regret doing it, it was just on a whim and although it could possibly be a sign of acceptance, i know it in NO WAY garuntees my enrollment for next semester.

I posted this is the NYU board too, but here goes:
I am a transfer applicant to NYU and I did not apply as a freshman. I looked it up and I KNOW they dont start making transfer admission decisions until April 1. A few days ago I tried to log into their system and it let me. I can check my NYU email and everything. Therefore, I dont think that being able to log into the system means anything for admission. I am not admitted, and theyve never received my information before, but I can log in. See? Theres no way its related. I think they just issue these accounts to all applicants and as long as you have your NYU id number (I got it in the receipt of application confirmation email) you can log in.
