Extremely curious

So my friend’s cousin’s kid gets accepted to SLO(Biomedical engineering) with 3.2 GPA. They are not in the service area. But my friend who knows all about MCA score says that they might have checked one parent not gone to college box even though the wife has a degree from another country but she is not working here. Is this even possible? The kid did not accept, he is going to Berkeley Sociology major. I am very curious, can anyone provide an insight? Thanks.

Is that a community college transfer GPA or a high school freshmen GPA?

High school freshman GPA

@monika2015… I don’t believe Cal Poly counts college degrees from other countries in regard to parents’ education.

Makes sense. Thanks.

seems odd that cal poly does not count college degrees from other countries. if this student got into cal, i suspect
he has better stats than you think or there’s more to the story.

3.2 GPA is too low even for sociology at UCB. And to say parents have no college degrees just because it’s not from US is like saying they are minority because parents from overseas. Just trying game the system. Shameless.

SLO Biomedical engineering with 3.2 GPA? Not likely.

engineering to sociology? lol…
