Extremely Horrific SAT II scores.. HELP!!

Variance,
lets look at this a different way. For engineering, they will look at the IIC and the Chemistry, and your average is 750 - not too shabby. Check the college websites for what's recommeded for engineering, specifically. But it may be time to move on.

a 790 and an 800 in IIC are very different. An 800 shows you got a score of 43 or higher out of 50, so as far as they know, you got them all right. A score of 790 gets rid of that ambiguity and shows them exactly how many points you got.

yea.. but i really dont want to retake it just for the extra 3 percentile..

boo ****ing hoo

For the percentiles...

they are misleading, for only the top students take specific SAT II's. As an example, less students score a 700 on the US History SAT II than score a 5 on the AP Exam.

The SAT II's and AP's must be viewed differently in terms of scoring. A person taking the SAT II in a particular subject (other than Math IC or the now obsolete Writing test) is indicating that they are very good in that subject and perhaps even planning to major in it. Having an average score on an SAT II test is difficult to do since the people taking that particular test are so good at the subject. Having an average score on an AP test in that same subject means that you are average among the general AP population. Also, SAT II's are only required for the most selective schools while the AP tests are taken by people wherever they have AP classes.

Each SAT II has a different average score and, of course, adcoms know what they are. In general, an average score is 600. In order for a SAT IIC test to be good, it must be above 700, and for it to really help you, it must be in the mid-700's or higher. For the Math IIC, the average score is much higher and many people get 800's.
