EXTREMELY LOW GPA-please help

Hi, so i did terriblly in high school during my freshman and sophomore years.
Anyways here are my stats...
Asian male
gpa - (unweighted): 2.8 -(weighted): 3.91
Class rank: 165/500 (barely top 1/3rd)
sat - 2250
I have taken 7 AP's total sophomore and junior year. Taking 6 next year. All other classes are honors except for 3.
AP scores:
Environmental science:3
World History: 3
Calc AB: 5
Physics C (mechanics): 5
Biology: 4
English: 4
Us history: 5

EC:
Violin- 9 years
chess- 8 years (pretty high rating)
2 board positions in clubs - (president of chess club, vp of biology club)-both for 3 years
beta club (2 years)
key club (1 year)
TSA (1 year)
Bit more than 200 hours of community service
Varsity basketball 1 year
unique self hired job (making instrumentals); sold to some prominent people- 3 years

I don't know why I got as many C's as I did, guess i didn't mature enough to realize the importance of studying.
Anyways I'm from NC and it's tough to find some good schools that will accept my low low low gpa. I go to a tough magnet school in NC used to be top 100 schools.
I have no idea what to do, I really dont want to go to community college.
Please help and tell me what colleges I should look at that will be willing to look past my gpa. Not limited to in state. My school has completely killed my ego (one good thing that has come out of it), so I don't mind going to ecu or nc state. But yeah Please help. And thanks.

Whats your GPA for Junior year

3.4 uw 5.4 w

The first question to ask is what kind of budget do you have? There are plenty of private colleges that would be happy to have you but they’re expensive. The good news is that your SATs will help you and in some cases will qualify you for merit money.

An example of a school that might be a match for your stats is Hartwick College in Oneonta NY:

There are many similar schools out there but of course you need to know if you can afford them. Grab a copy of Peterson’s or the Fiske Guide and start looking at schools with 50 percent+ admissions rates.

thanks. moeney is not an issue. I will not be applying for aid

Thanks a lot. I was also wondering if i should be looking into some oos state schools.

i have a 2.6 unweighted and a 2160 sat and i’m going to bard college in the fall. i also got into hampshire, drexel and suny geneseo. if i could get into those schools then you definitely can.

I heard drexel is a good engineering school. So its not that competitive?
